Good morning Parents!

We are super excited to start off the upcoming school year with a vision for continued success. As you know, collectively, our students performed well on the FSA. We were only 1% point away from reaching our goal. Our theme for the 2018-19 school year is “Dream more, learn more, become more”. We strongly encourage our students to take this theme to higher heights by challenging themselves through rigorous academic coursework by taking advantage and control of their own learning. For me, the theme will challenge me to re-structure our vision for learning in order to improve instruction and student growth.

We have finalized several important aspects of our upcoming school year. School hours for students will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:45 am – 3:00 pm. Wednesday will be from 7:45 am – 2:00 pm. Also, please review the school supply list and plan accordingly. Students will be responsible for their own school supplies this year (there will be no student fee for supplies). Also, we will continue to implement the school-wide student planner requirement. Students will utilize this planner to stay organized for class, assignments, tests, and more. In addition, the student planner will be used for safety and operating purposes as students leave and return to classrooms. There will be a $5.00 fee for student planners.

Our Kindergarten Meet the Teacher event will take place Thursday, August 9th. There will be two sessions for parents to choose from (9-10am or 5-6pm). Orientation and Meet the Teacher for 1st-8th grade will be Friday, August 10th from 2:30 pm-6:30 pm. Please see scheduled times below. Due to high volumes of students and parents, we strongly suggest parents to get “in and out” for the 1st-8th grade Orientation and Meet the Teacher event as a new wave of students and parents will enter the building every hour. This process will minimize congestion inside the building and outside with our traffic flow. During the event, parents will receive a school information sheet and may purchase the student planner during this time. Parents are also encouraged to visit the cafeteria for several vendors for before/after care, transportation, school uniforms, our free after-school program, local business partners and more. A handout will be provided to direct parents to locations for our vendors and teachers.

2:30-3:30 1st, 3rd and 6th
4:00-5:00 2nd, 4th and 8th
5:30-6:30 5th and 7th

Remember to please adhere to the event schedule and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.

Thanks for your commitment to Renaissance Charter School at Poinciana and let’s have a spectacular school year!
